ORPHAN
CHILD by "Pamporovo Pete"
Roberts
In a far
off cold, and lonely place,
A smile appears on an orphans face,
Why should he smile, what right has he,
To ask for love, and pester me,
What right has he to want a life,
Free of pain and toil and strife,
What right has he for games and toys,
That we reserve for nicer boys,
Lets turn away, lets pass them by,
And pretend we never heard them cry,
Lets count our blessings one by one,
And warm ourselves when the day is done,
The kids aren't mine, it not my fault,
If begging's all that they've been taught,
So who cares if the night is wild,
Don't ask for help - you orphan child.
I lie in bed my day complete,
With snuggled arms and toasty feet,
But sleep I can't, though meek and mild,
I can't forget the orphan child.
I can't forget those
piercing eyes,
That followed me with sheer surprise,
I can't forget the frightened look,
That followed every step I took,
My head a mess, but my conscience clear,
I'll help these kids and rid their fear.
And one by one they WILL be warm,
And never fear another storm.
I'll make a difference, the facts are filed,
I'm gonna help the orphan child.
A cry goes out across the nation,
For all to give a small donation,
For clothes and toys and food and heating,
That was denied at every meeting,
And people rallied far and wide,
To help the kids of the countryside,
So now there's hope all be it slight,
That children there will see the light,
And play again as children must,
In mud and dirt and sand and dust.
So thank you all your gifts are piled
To help our precious ---- orphan child.
It is hoped that all the children
will be in education early in 2008. We are appealing to everyone who has
these kids welfare at heart to donate:
swimming
shorts and sports tops for the children wash
bags, tooth paste, tooth brushes, hair brushes, shampoo, shower, conditioner
and shower gel, bedding,
pillows, towels. First aid, loo roll, lice lotion school
bags and stationery and note pads - these are always needed as they are
used in the orphanage as well as for schooling
Note:
We are now desperate forr white towels and duvet covers
etc, We also desperately need good hair conditioner and
good quality hair brushes not with plastic bristles as
the bristles break. The girls hairs are terribly matted and it will help
brush out the mats as are having trouble eradicating head lice and combing
through conditioner with fine tooth combs twice weekly is the long term
solution.
